Is Kindergroup a daycare or drop-in playgroup?
No, we are not a daycare. Parents/caregivers stay with and are responsible for their own children during playgroups or field trips. We are also not a drop-in playgroup. While prospective members may schedule a visit by contacting the Membership Coordinator, all members must register and pay dues.
When do playgroups meet?
At this time, due to COVID, we do not have regular playgroup meetups. We have a variety of events planned for this year, both virtual and in-person when safe.
Under normal circumstances, groups meet weekly on Tuesday and Friday from 9:30-11:30. Kindergroup follows the Southborough Public School calendar. We don’t meet during school vacations, holidays or snow days. We do not meet regularly during the summer; however, members often set up playdates throughout the summer to maintain their friendships!
Where do playgroups meet?
Due to COVID, we currently do not have regular weekly playgroups. Field trips and other in-person event locations will vary.
Does Kindergroup go on field trips?
Yes! We regularly schedule field trips. Field trips may be at an additional cost to the member; however Kindergroup will always try to subsidize the cost. Some of our favorites are apple picking, visiting the Southborough Fire Department, and Davis Farmland.
What are my responsibilities as a member?
A schedule will be created at the beginning of each semester to let you know what you will be responsible for and when. If you aren’t able to attend playgroup when you are assigned a job, you must find your own replacement. Daily jobs include set up and clean up of snack, coffee and toys, vacuuming, and trash removal.
What do my membership dues go toward?
Membership dues pay for insurance, facility rental, cleaning supplies, toys, and non-perishable snacks for the children.
Will I have the opportunity to meet parents from other days?
Yes! We schedule Members Night Out events to encourage the parents/caregivers to get together and socialize. Another great way to get to know other parents/caregivers is to join a committee.
What is the refund policy?
We encourage anyone who is interested in joining to have a visit first, to see if you and your child enjoy the playgroup. Once you have registered, if you decide to leave Kindergroup prior to your second week, you will receive a full refund. Choosing to leave after the second week and prior to the third week will result in a 50% refund. After the third week no refund will be granted. In the event of unusual circumstances refunds may be granted at the discretion of the Board.
Are membership dues prorated if I join later in the year?
Yes, we have implemented a prorated dues structure if you choose to join our group later in the year. You can see the dues structure on the "About Us" page of this website.
